The Ambassador Housing Village provides more than just housing for our SWT participants. Our goal is to maximize the opportunities of the program by putting together events that can help our EVs learn and adapt to the American way of living as well as share their culture and values with our community.
Since the success story we had summer of last year, we found out that EVs have shown a huge interest in US law enforcement. We have built upon that interest and made it a goal to host events like this so they can learn safety and most especially, build a positive relationship with our local police officers.
On March 20th, 2023, the AHV hosted Coffee with Cops in partnership with the Williamsburg Police Department with the theme “Building relationship, one cup at a time.” We had coffee and homemade coffee cake baked by our very own, Denise Trainor (HR Sr. Coordinator).
Safety has been and will always be our number one goal at AHV. Our "Coffee with Cops" event allowed our EVs to ask questions about local ordinances, law enforcement programs, and career information. Our EVs were able to learn how our local police department protects and serves our community. Aside from that, our local police officers were also able to understand our EVs culture and values which we hope will help the officers to connect with them to build a trusting relationship.
We are looking forward to continuing our partnership with Williamsburg Police Department, with the help of Officer H. Williams (Community Engagement/Crime Prevention Officer) and Officer Brandon Johnson.
